This map of Bora Bora gives you an idea of the islands layout. The central larger island is where Mount Pahia and Mount Otemanu are. The larger central Bora Bora island is surrounded by an Atol which includes the lagoon and barrier reef - and smaller islands, such as Motu Piti A'u and Motu Tofari, are located around the lagoon on the coral reef. It is these smaller outer lying islands where much of the hotel resort accommodation and water bungalows are located, where you can get stunning views of the central island. |

This aerial shot of Bora Bora gives you something to compare the map above with and shows the landscape of the central island and surrounding islands. The strip of land in the foreground is Motu Ome, which bends on the left of the picture and forms Motu Tofari. |

Motu piti a'au is an island formation on the Atol that encircles the central Bora Bora island. What makes Bora Bora special is the Atol that encircles the central main island. For those who don't know an Atol is a ring shaped coral reef that encircles a lagoon either forming a complete bit of land or partially covered land areas. On Motu Piti A'Au is one of the worlds best beaches - Eden Beach, along with some stunning resorts - such as the Inter Continental Bora Bora Resort & Thalasso Spa.
