Cabbage Beach, Paradise Island, Bahamas

Cabbage Beach, Paradise Island, Bahamas

Cabbage Beach is located on the northern side of Paradise Island. A long stretch of white powdery sand, Cabbage Beach is one of the most aesthetically pleasing on the island.
An inappropriate name does nothing to spoil the flawless aesthetics of this lengthy strip of sand. The chair, umbrella, bracelet and Jet Ski touts might be a challenge to your good mood, but if you walk eastward away from the busy section you'll be able to take in one of the world's best beaches uninterrupted.

Guests from the adjacent hotels and resorts come to enjoy waterskiing, parasailing, and other water sports. Though the beach is lined with numerous hotels, the eastern end remains uninhabited for the most part. The famous statues at Versailles Garden are just a few blocks south. This is a public beach and thus the most popular on Paradise Island, and it’s always crowded. Thankfully, though, it’s big enough for everyone. Although it is a public beach, most visitors come from the hotels that line the northern shore of island. However, there are no public restrooms and only the hotels’ guests can use those in the hotels. The downside is the strong currents just off shore and the beach vendors, some of them are decidedly shady characters, who can be more than a little persistent when selling their wares. Weak and non-swimmers should stay out of the water.
